Allen Patee, MD
Co-Founder, Physician, COO
I have spent much of my medical career meeting people in some of the hardest moments of their lives.
After graduating from medical school in 2010, I completed my residency in Emergency Medicine in 2013 and moved to Redding, California, where I began working in emergency departments throughout the region. In the ER, I saw firsthand how addiction can affect every part of a person’s life — their health, relationships, work, family, sense of purpose, and hope for the future.
Those experiences stayed with me.
In 2019, I began working in outpatient addiction medicine while continuing my work in the emergency department. As I learned more about how medications could help reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, and support recovery, I became increasingly passionate about combining excellent medical care with counseling, encouragement, accountability, and practical support.
In early 2024, my wife, Dr. Mercedes Patee, and I opened Renewed Life Medical Group. Mercedes began serving in the clinic full time, and a little over a year ago, I joined her full time as well.
I am passionate about helping people who feel stuck begin to see that change is possible. For me, the goal of treatment is not simply sobriety. Sobriety is incredibly important, but it can also open the door to something bigger: renewed hope, healthier relationships, stability, and a fuller life.
I want to help people struggling with substance use find treatment and a welcoming community where they feel cared for and not alone. I love that this work allows us to come alongside people during a difficult season and help them take real steps toward healing.
I am especially passionate about seeing relationships restored. Some of my favorite stories are when our members talk about being truly present for their kids again — not just physically in the room, but mentally and emotionally available. So when someone tells me they were able to show up for their child’s birthday party, be fully engaged, laugh with them, listen to them, and actually be present, those are the moments that remind me why this work matters so much.
My hope is that patients experience me as warm, encouraging, easygoing, and safe. I want every person I meet with to feel treated with kindness, respect, and genuine care. I hope people leave each visit feeling less alone, less ashamed, and more excited about what their future can hold.
For new patients who feel nervous, I want them to know this: I understand that people struggling with addiction have often faced stigma, shame, and judgment. This place was created to be different — welcoming, hopeful, excellent, and full of dignity.
Outside of medicine, my favorite place to be is with my family. I love spending time with my wife and our two sons, whether that means going to their games and performances, cheering them on from the sidelines, or occasionally helping coach their basketball, football, and soccer teams. I also enjoy mountain biking, wakesurfing on local lakes, and taking friends and family out on the boat.
I am usually looking for some kind of athletic event to sign up for, whether it is the Tinman Triathlon at Lake Siskiyou, a Spartan Race, or something else that will motivate me to keep training — because without a goal on the calendar, training in the Redding heat does not sound nearly as inspiring.
I am also involved in my local church and am grateful to be part of a close home group made up of several families who have met weekly for years, shared countless meals, vacationed together, served on local and international mission trips, and built deep friendships through years of doing life together.
